Was texting my girlfriend during lunch, venting about how my boss micromanages everything and “breathes down my neck like I’m five.”
You can probably guess what happened next I sent it to my boss instead.
Panic set in instantly. I tried the whole “sorry, wrong person” move, but yeah… damage done.
He replied: “Thanks for the feedback. Let’s talk later.”
That “talk” ended up being surprisingly civil, but also very awkward.
He hasn’t micromanaged me since, but now he calls me “Mr. Independent.”
Moral of the story: always check the name at the top before you hit send.
TL;DR: Meant to text my girlfriend a rant about my micromanaging boss, accidentally sent it to my boss. He saw it, called me in for a talk, and now things are awkward but at least he stopped hovering.
