TIFU by accidentally booking myself in first class instead of economy

I’ve been saving up for months for a little vacation like nothing fancy just a much-needed break after working and budgeting like crazy. I finally found what I thought was a decent economy ticket and I was so excited that I just clicked through the booking process without really paying attention (rookie mistake).

Fast forward to later that night, I open my email to double-check my itinerary and there it is in bold letters: FIRST CLASS.

At first my stomach dropped. My immediate thought was I just torched my entire vacation fund on a single flight and I started frantically pulling up my banking app, doing the math on a napkin like some kind of panicked accountant.

After a few minutes of spiraling, I realized something like I’ve actually been way stricter with my spending the past few months than I gave myself credit for. I’ve saved up more than I thought so it’s not actually a financial disaster. It’s just a very expensive, very fancy mistake.

Now that the panic’s over, I can’t stop laughing at how clueless I must have looked smashing that button without noticing the giant plan label price staring me in the face.

I’ve never flown first class before, so I guess I’m about to live the high life for one flight sipping champagne, hot towels, and legroom I could probably do yoga in like all thanks to my own inability to read.

TL;DR: I accidentally booked myself in first class instead of economy and panicked thinking I’d blown my vacation budget, but realized I can afford it and now get to enjoy an unexpected upgrade.
